TrackTools: Modular Toolbox of Acquisition, Tracking, and Aimpoint Maintenance Algorithms

This presentation describes the advancements and maturation of MZA’s tracking algorithm software suite. The modular software toolbox, called TrackTools, is written in C++ and makes use of built in OpenCV functionalities to create a variety of standard and custom algorithms. The toolbox contains image pre-processing routines, acquisition algorithms, course track algorithms, fine track algorithms, and aimpoint maintenance algorithms. The modularity enables to seamless switch between various algorithms. The TrackToolsAPI is utilized and has been integrated into real-time Navy, Army and Air Force beam control systems. The TrackToolsAPI is accessible for analysis via Matlab, Python, and C/C++. TrackTools also contains a variety of image source and gimbal classes that enable interfacing to many commonly used beam control cameras and COTS gimbal mounts. There are several types of simulators that enable previously recorded sequences to be played back to emulate an image feed. The presentation will cover the trade space of using simple computationally efficient algorithms versus slower more capable and also more computationally expense methods. The TrackTools toolbox has been implemented onto various hardware form factors and is compatible with Windows and Linux operating systems.
