Atmospheric Characterization Diagnostics System: Aerosol Optical Properties Model Development and Evaluation

The presentation will overview and intercompare publicly accessible numerical modeling datasets of atmospheric aerosols. These datasets provide various levels of detail in aerosol characterization, with differences in spatial and temporal resolutions. The presentation will provide an analysis of the strengths and weaknesses of each dataset. Additionally, methodologies for integrating these datasets with in situ measurements and satellite observations will be explored to enhance the spatial and temporal variability, consistent with observations. The methodologies developed will be utilized for the prediction of three-dimensional fields or aerosol optical characteristics for the Atmospheric Characterization Diagnostics System (ACDS). The talk will also cover the plan to utilize aerosol observations from the Persistent Data Collection Site (PDCS) to evaluate the methodologies developed.
