Packaging Design and Victory Device Simulations of a SiC Drift Step Recovery Diode
This paper details the process of reverse engineering an N-type SiC Drift Step Recovery Diode (DSRD). During this research, custom packaging was fabricated for the bare die device to interface with a pulsed power testbed. The packaging details are examined along with the initial limitations that were faced. A Silvaco Victory Device model was developed based on the data captured from the testbed. This model allows for rapid design iterations to be simulated to maximize device performance and determine future packaging requirements.
